Both Powerball and Mega Millions have made some people very rich. Here are the top 10 richest Michigan Lottery winners followed by the biggest lottery winners in the history of our country. See how the richest winners ever compare to Michigan’s biggest winners.
Top 10 lottery winners – #10: $57 million Mega Millions
The 10th largest jackpot in Michigan lottery history was the $57 million Mega Millions jackpot on June 13, 2008. Fred Topous of Kent City in Kent County won the prize, claiming it four days later. He elected to take the lump sum payment of $33,989,267 before taxes.
#9: $66 million Mega Millions
The $66 million Mega Millions jackpot on June 13, 2014 is the 9th largest jackpot in Michigan lottery history. Kelsey Zachow of Port Huron claimed the prize on July 31, 2014.
#8: $75 million Mega Millions
A Detroiter won the 8th largest Michigan lottery jackpot in history. Loretta Brown won the $75 million Mega Millions jackpot on November 14, 2006. She claimed her prize two days later, opting for the lump sum of $44 million before taxes.
#7: $79 million Mega Millions

Mike Greer claimed the 6th largest jackpot in Michigan history on November 12, 2010. His “Team Victory” group won the $128.6 million Powerball lottery on November 6, 2010. The ticket was split by members of a group primarily from southeast Michigan.
#5: $136 million Mega Millions
The fifth largest jackpot in Michigan history comes in at $136 million dollars. 60 year old David Sneath of Livonia won the jackpot on April 1, 2008. He claimed the prize two days later. Pictured is Sneath with his winning ticket.
#4: $181 million Big Game
The fourth largest jackpot in Michigan lottery history happened in 2000. Larry Ross of Shelby Township won $181.5 million playing the Big Game lottery on May 9, 2000. He collected his winnings on May 20, 2000.
#3: $208 million Mega Millions
The third largest jackpot in Michigan lottery history happened on April 22, 2005. Pictured is Michigan Lottery Commissioner Gary Peters presenting a check to the $208 million Mega Millions winners, Ralph and Mary Stebbins of Port Huron. They claimed the prize on April 29, 2005. The couple chose to take their winnings in one payment, giving them $124.7 million before taxes.
